What's the deal? Not enough things to talk about?? Ok I'll start one.

Was on Rec.Knive the other day and a guy gets on trying to sell a set of Case commemorative Dale Earnhardt knives. Most in the newsgroup felt this was in bad taste and profiteering of the worst kind, while others said hey, whatever ya gotta do to make a buck. I for one think the guy could have waited, I mean dead is dead, why cheapen the man's legacy by trying to make big bucks from his death? I mean think of his family.

So what do you guys think? BTW was on Yahoo Auctions this AM and someone was selling said set for $1000 starting with a promised "High Reserve" Saw no bids on the item.

An American Racing legend .Don't feel bad . If you talked of local stuff we would probably be lost too .

I say "sell it"!

I know it's a bad time and all, but I doubt Earnhardt felt bad when he signed the deal to endorse the product. They all know what the risks are. Earnhardt was my total favorite, and I can't stand what happened, but that's what collectibles are all about.

I feel bad about saying it, but there is nothing we can do for the man now, except pray for his family and hope Heaven has no restrictor plate rules.

Jens, I guess Dale Earnhardt's death was to Nascar fans like Ayrton Senna's was to Formula One.

As for selling the commemorative stuff. If it already exists and people are selling it now, that's to be expected, and maybe some fans get the things that mean something to them. If someone is making stuff especially to cash in, that's tacky.

Nothing I see will ever be as tacky as having to spend time in London after Princess Di's death. I have never seen so many dead flowers.....

Roger,

You know what I said the other day when it happened? I told someone, "great, now Senna's got someone who can challenge him in heaven."

Ayrton Senna was one of the greatest drivers in history ... don't you agree? I'd say Senna could have won "at will" in any type of racing. That's how good I thought he was ...
