R Todd 03-29-2001, 10:34 PM Hey MDP, wasnt aware you were here....glad to see ya. Anyways, whats that all about?
Mondt 03-29-2001, 10:50 PM What's up with that?? Did you do something to his Cheerio's?
MIKE KOLLER 03-30-2001, 12:18 AM What the .....!!!!Does anyone know who this joker is?
This ain't cool at all
primos 03-30-2001, 12:52 AM Marion and fellow CKD Forum members,
The id shown in the email is not one of our members. It is the user name for someone on another group of forums, NOT the CKD forums.
Yes, I looked, and yes, I found it. I'm not mentioning the name of the forums this individual belongs to, but it's not us.
We don't play those kinds of games here. I just wanted to put everyone's mind at ease. Our forums will maintain the same high standards that they always have. We seek out the elite, and we take care of our own.
Spend more time over here with us Marion. You are always welcome, and will not be subjected to such things as the email you shared with us.
CKDadmin 03-30-2001, 01:51 AM That's correct ...
Take what Terry said to the bank! He can back it up!
If that ever happens here, all I want you to do is get me, Bob or Terry involved ASAP! We'll solve the problem and you can get back to having fun ...
This ain't "Spadeforums" boys ... we are their worst nightmare, as far as the custom knife industry is concerned! Watch and see ... they can have the production crap. I can get one of those at the hardware store. I certainly don't want to waste my time talking about it all day.
Remember, if you're a professional here and treat your brothers at CKD like people with respect, we've got your back covered to the n'th degree. Nobody's going to get treated here like they do at the other advert-holes. We're not selling advertising and head counts to manufacturers ... so, we don't care about numbers. We care about the people and the art form! And, we're going to take this art form to the top ... together!
Now, if they wanted to truly do something worthy, they'd be helping to sell custom knives openly. Of course, they don't want to get into that conversation ... at least, not with CKD ... do they Bob?
Alex
Thats why we hang here.At CKD we would rather lift each other up than tear each other down.Don't you wish the world could catch on?
We have fun, learn a lot, and are not bothered by that factory stuff out there. If you love customs and handmades, this is where you belong.
Stick around,we appreciate our members, everyone of them.
Don Cowles 03-30-2001, 09:20 AM Amen!
JerryO13 03-30-2001, 11:23 AM Ditto !
This place is a sanctuary compared to almost everywhere else. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Little Hen Knives 03-30-2001, 07:31 PM I`ve said this before and I`ll say it again..this forum ROCKS!!
this is the first place I go when I turn the puter on and it`s the last place i`m at before I go to bed..every day like clockwork!
You won`t find a better place,or nicer more helpful place than the CUSTOM KNIFE DIRECTORY!!
read lots, learn lots and most of all have fun!!
MIKE KOLLER 03-30-2001, 10:12 PM This forum is tops and the rest......well we know where we return to everytime.
And I am hear to tell you that I feel honored to be here with the best.
Alex,
I feel that once the chaos dies out ,in the crowd that, they will see that the CDK and it members/brothers/sisters have not waivered and are setting the example that all must follow to rise to the top or any where near it.Like mentioned above, if the world could only catch on!
JLoose 04-02-2001, 11:38 PM Hello All,
Being new around here one of the things I'm noticing is the lack of flaming and background noise. What's wrong with you guys ?!?
I stopped using an aforementioned forum because out of the hundreds of posts I was sifting through, half were flames and most of the other half were blather.
This place gots a nice atomosphere. So far I like it!
-Jonathan Loose
Don Cowles 04-03-2001, 05:22 AM Very glad to have you with us, Jonathan!
primos 04-03-2001, 06:32 AM Good to have you Jonathan. Hey, why don't you register up? We can help you with a custom signature, maybe even a custom personal pic. This is the place!
Guys. I notice that Marion hasn't been back. I wonder if he's under the impression that someone here sent him the nasty email.
dogman 04-03-2001, 06:41 AM Hey, Jonathan, shut up, we don't like you:) OK, now you can feel at home:) I really like your knives; they are unique and immediately recognizable as yours.
I doubt MDP thinks the email came from here. He just doesn't post here very often.
Welcome Johnathan,
The flaming noises here are our forges warming up,the background noise are our kids.
CKD is a family safe environment.
I think most everyone here feels like family too.
If you want verbal abuse, just mention how good factory knives are to everyone here.
*^&%+#$@**!~+)%$#**!!!!!!
I think that sums it up,OK? Be Blessed!
J Loose 04-03-2001, 11:37 AM Thanks for the %$#!! warm welcome, everybody! :-)
Finally figured out the registration bit.
I'll definitely be contributing to the effort, but now, back down to my dungeon Smithy...
-J. Loose
dogman 04-03-2001, 03:07 PM Jonathan, you make me want to put an Anthrax CD on:D
J Loose 04-03-2001, 05:45 PM Dogman,
Heh, funny thing is, I don't listen to much heavy metal... though I did when I was younger. Now it's mostly Irish and odd Scandinavian music. Oh, and good Rockabilly...
(Shrug...)
I don't know either.
viper5192 04-03-2001, 05:53 PM Good to have ya here Jonathon! You WiLL like it here! THAT'S an order Mister ;-)
BOB28 04-05-2001, 03:23 AM Being new here myself, I would agree with J. The other forums bring you to "on guard" level. You sift through the countless meaningless posts over and over again just to find something worth reading, and really hardly ever find it, and woe be to you if you say something that the seinior members don't like. They are on you like rabid hounds! Then I found this place! AAHHHH!! Big sighe of relief. You can come here and unwind. You don't need to worry about flames or someone calling you or a question you post stupid or dumb.
Fact is it's just plain nice here!:)
Thank you fellas!
CKDadmin 04-05-2001, 09:01 PM Bob,
You are most welcome, brother!
Alex
moldy Jim 04-06-2001, 12:15 AM Why beat someone down, when it's easier to lift everyone up?
I like it here because no one says "My knife/way/design/method is the ONLY Right way"
All I've seen is "This works for me", "Here is how I do it",
"You might try..."
Nobody claims to know everything, but together we do know it all.
Like a big family of friends.
Moldy
CKD is refreshing (other than the forum bashing which seems contradictory to the atmosphere that is fostered here).
When you have 10000 + members there are going to be some bad apples (some pretty ignorant ones too), but the other forums have benefitted custom knives.
I think we have the chance here to take things to a higher level and that has been hard to do in the other forums. Take my word for it I have tried.
dogman 04-21-2001, 01:37 PM Well, Hello Gus:)
You are right...with 10,000 members, things start to get a little convoluted. I hate to use the word "bash", but everyone seems to have had a bad experience on other forums. We have never had to lock a thread here for troll reasons. Even in the early days of BF, people would get out of hand. G****6 is one handle I can point at. I think the worst is the newbies getting attacked for "dumb" questions and over zealousness in the GB&U forum.
You are also right that it seems hypocritical for CKD members to say how friendly it is here then say how crappy it is elsewhere. I personally promise I won't post that way and I hope everyone else jumps in. We are very proud of our small community and that is what everyone is trying to convey when they talk about the CKD, not anything negative.
Heck, even Spark is playing in our photo contest with millions of dollars of non-prizes at stake.
Come back often or we will be forced to bash you for non participation:)
Bob
Gus Kalanzis 04-21-2001, 02:01 PM Did not mean to start anything as a matter of fact CKD has another fan and I hope to learn and on occasions add something of interest here with old and new friends.
I think it would be better for people and knife making in general if the forums (including "Spade forums") worked in partnership especially in the Custom area of knives. (after all we collect and make knives in a small world that was small even before the net).
There is no reason why all venues in the field can not be assests to each-other, to knifemaking, to knifemakers and to collectors and that is what I would like to see.
Thanks for the Welcome Bob. I promise that is all I will say on the subject:) and that from here on out my posts will be directed towards knowledge, friendship and fun. It is just that some of those comments got to me. There have been quite a few people who have benefitted from "Spade Forums" other than the owners including CKD and quite a few members and moderators here.
Don Cowles 04-21-2001, 02:55 PM Gus, I'm pleased to see you with us. Hope to see you here often!
Nathan House 06-12-2001, 09:27 PM I agree,
I have been on other forums were tiny things turn into a big
mess,This forms is my cup of tea,
And Gene O is who sent me this way I am glade I gave
a look my type of people, Good old Gene My buddie
who has taught me alot over the phone and told me little tricks and tips that help
He always tells how to do it and there is not much he does not know, thanks for pointing me in this dirrection.
Blessings Nathan
Gary Mulkey 06-13-2001, 12:53 AM MDK,
I am new to CKD but one thing that I appreciate about the forum is that ALL of the postings that I see here are from people that not only are very affable but very supportive of all other makers. I hope that anyone that wants to talk trash finds somewhere else to do it. "If you can't say something nice, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!"
Gary Mulkey
