Just three questions which I ask only as it pertains to Canadian Legislation.
1. Is it illegal to make a balisong for sale?
2. Is it illegal to own a balisong?
3. Is it illegal to carry a balisong?
I have asked many a person who should know however the answers never remain the same. I have also taken this question to my lawyer and await his response. Does anyone know?

Hi Dave! Good to see you posting here....
I believe the answer is "YES" to all three....
I know it is illegal to carry and own one, not positive that it is illegal to make tham..BUT i would assume so. your lawyer should be able to tell you.
The whole balisong thing makes me made, the main reason being that it is probobly the strongest folding knife design!
If made properly once it is open it is essentially a fixed blade!.
what can you do :(
hope I helped some and Welcome to the CKD!!
BTW you should post some of your blades in the Display case. I know everyone would love to see your work.

Simple posession is a criminal offence. This is a prohibited weapon under federal law in Canada.
Balisongs have been challenged all of the way to the Supreme court and have been found to be illegal.

Thanks Eric & George, thats just what I expected. Although we have yet to hear from our lawyer.
Oh, by the way, sorry for that large picture I hope this one will be smaller.
Perhaps, someone with more of a working understanding of the web could start an e-mail based petition for the legalization of balisongs and other criminalized blades. After all we can legitamently own a gun (ando so we should), yet we're prohibited from owning a particulair knife? It seems hypacritical to me, and well "#### aint dey perty".
