This beautiful Bowie knife was created by members of the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild to Raffle off in support of the Guild. The blade is 10” and the knife is 15” overall.

The incredible damascus blade was forged by Ron Newton, and then flat ground by Barry Jones. Andrew McLurkin crafted the nickel silver and blued steel guard with four-sided guard shoulder. John Poythress created the ivory and nickel silver box handle, and then it was tastefully relief craved by Jesse Houser. The blade was heat treated and finished by Wayne Whitley, and then the knife was final assembled by Tommy McNabb and Tim Scholl. Photo by Andrew McLurkin.

As you can see from the picture the knife is a real beauty. If you are going to the Blade Show the knife will be at Barry and Phillip Jones table along with raffle tickets for those wanting a chance. Guild members will also have tickets in the next couple of weeks for those interested.

Thanks for Looking!

Andrew, is Ron on the forums? I'd like to ask him how he made that beautiful damascus pattern. What a beautiful knife, and that's to everyone involved.

Maybe I'm just missing where you answered this, but who designed the knife?

Robert, I'm not sure if Ron frequents the Forums. I believe I've seen him post on BF. Thanks for the complements. The knife really came together given how many makers had a hand in it.

Larrin, several makers submitted designs for the knife and we ended up drawing elements from four or five designs to come up with this one. About eight or nine NC Guild Members sat down at a recent meetings and pulled together the design elements we liked. Sometimes things come together better then imagined.
