I just had a bright idea.....someone recommended to use a piece of glas on the flatplaten on grinder for pure straight sanding surface.....well.I got the glas and glued it to the workrest and tapered a tang....perfectly flat....however the feeling of having a piece of glass loosen from the platen and take a turn "around the clock" just terrified me.....I just could not have it sitting there. So I peeled it right of again and now I feel safe in the shop again!

I feel the same way about it Jens. That's the only reason I haven't tried it yet. Would only take one accident with it to ruin your whole day. I think I'll just stick with my disk grinder.

I didn't like it mainly because I couldn't find someone to properly radius the edges for flat grinding. I used a piece of Corning glass and it seemed pretty safe as long as the platen you attach it too is perfectly flat. I now use hardened O-1 stock bolted to my original platen.
