Jerry I was hopin' you could give me some insight on the heat treat of 3v. I was curious if High temp salts and low temp salts would be a good way to go or does it have to be air quench period? Thanx for takin' the time to help.

Salt baths are a good way to go, because you can get a fast quench with them. I don't know the times you need though, because salt would be faster than air.

Paul Bos uses 1975F to harden. Normal soak is 15 minutes; should also work for salt I'd thnk. Fast quench (you could use your temper salt bath for this at 950F). Air cool to room temp. Snap temper at 400F, but you could probably just quick temper in your normal 950F temper bath. Cryo overnight, then double temper for 2 hours each at 950F. This should give you Rc61. There may be stress relieving stop at around 1400F on the way to the hardening bath but I'm not sure.

Should work great.
