I think it would be nice to see a centralized calendar of special events, shows and hammer-ins etc.

Either on its own or attached to the announcements/updates forum

The existing calendar feature on the forum is a little congested with birthdays and the like. Don't get me wrong I think its a cool feature but I've missed a couple of events by not having had enough lead time to plan to get away. Having such a place on the forums would allow lots of notice, big shows usually have lots of publicity but a place to showcase smaller local events is long overdue.
