Here is a knife too nice not to show. Sorry guys, this one belongs to Mike's wife. But I guess he can make another one (or two, or three).

Every time I think my knives are getting there I see something like this that puts me back in prespective and makes me realize just how far I have to go. That is one stunningly beautiful knife.

Wow! Thanks, guys, for all the compliments.
I'm sure that each of you has felt this way: knowing that knifemakers generally work
alone, we all need feedback from time to time from our peers to know if we're even
on the right track or not. I don't have a "sounding board" locally, so this forum is a
good place to get info from people that really look at knives. And as nice as it is to
hear "atta boy", I'd also like to hear comments that would help me make a better (or
better looking) knife. You can look for other stuff in the future.

Very nice, Mike. As a newcomer to your knives, let me just say that I am impressed. I tried e-mailing you, but my mail bounced back as undeliverable. Will try again.

While it's obvious why Mike's post was brought here...it's not so obvious
why my post welcoming Mike was not brought with it. Not complaining,
just wondering...if I broke some kind of rule or something?

Bruce: Yes I did make the damascus. It's 200 layers of 1018 and L-6 in a simple twist pattern.
I had made my wife a knife somewhat like this one (albeit a lot plainer) a while back. And then we were at a show, the knife was out on the table with a "Not For Sale" sign on it, and I hear her tell a guy the knife is $700. I nearly fell over. I'd made one like it for someone else not a month before, and sold it for half that. So when another guy comes up and says I'll take it, what could I do? I took his money. She named the price, and all I did was collect. And then she hits the roof. The upshot was that I needed to make a knife to replace that one, and this is what happened.
