View Full Version : new years resolutions
nybble 12-26-2003, 08:31 AM Ok everyone - which balisongs (custom or production) are you resolved to buy in the new year?
For me, the spyderfly (should it ever come out) is probably the only production I'm going to get. And other than my own designs, I think there's a Davidson or two that are on the horizon, a sweet 29K and probably more. :) But those are the only ones I know about now. Heh.
blade1 12-26-2003, 12:00 PM i have a dobruski coming up around late summer, i'm thinking of getting a 29 and would love to have a marlowe. as for productions the spyderfly and whatever else catches my fancy. i'm hoping to have a bali-full year.
Murnax 12-26-2003, 02:27 PM For me its the Spyderfly and hopefully a 4" 29 -- skeleton-handled scimitar.
Terry Guinn 12-26-2003, 05:00 PM I hope to make at least a dozen.;)
deviant11 12-26-2003, 07:50 PM Definately a Spyderfly (order is already placed).
And I'd really like a Dobruski, but I guess that just won't happen.
Icon of Sin 12-27-2003, 10:50 AM Yep, a spyderfly will be my next prurchase and probably a few typhoons since the one I got from Lanny flips so well.
relayer66 12-27-2003, 05:36 PM First off, I hope my Dobie that I ordered about a year ago will come this year.
I'm certainly not rich, but I hope to acquire at least one more of Chris' knives and, when Charles starts making sandwiches (am I reading his hints right?), I want to be one of the first customers (I have one of his channels).
I also want to get Terry to make me something, I just don't know what yet.
Oh yeah, also a coupla Spyderflys (look like one-bladed scissors:( ), and whatever tasty scraps BM may throw at us.
tonyccw 12-27-2003, 06:40 PM Not 100% commited to this one, but I resolve to have my first collabration come out in 2004. It's been too long since I've had one of my designs fleshed out.
relayer66 12-27-2003, 06:55 PM What is involved in a collaboration? Do you finance the entire run? Or does the maker or dealer sometimes share some of the expense?
I have an balisong idea that (I think) is VERY original. I have been trying to visualize how to make it but it seems like a puzzle. Part of it came to me in a dream? I can't come up with a solution myself, but maybe someone with more mechanical aptitude than me (and I have more than most people) can help me.

Send me an e-mail with some designs/sketches.

ZENGHOST 12-30-2003, 03:43 AM I have a Dobruski on order that may get done by the end of the year (still have to come up with a design, though). I also really want to pick up a Davidson--I spoke to Larry a little last month but haven't heard anything from him recently. Spyderfly is on order as well. There's so many great knives out there right now I am going to be donating my paychecks for the year, I think. I would like to eventually pick up a bali from each of the current makers. That is, Ralph, Olofson, Guinn, Ikoma, Korth, Hinderer, Davidson, etc. I may also have to check out Marlowe's new IKBS balis to give my #004 a new sibling. *sigh* So many balis, so little time...

Marlowe's new IKBS balisThis is news to me... Ikoma & Korth has licensed their Bearing System to Marlowe? Or has Charles invented his own bearing design?

Duane hooked Charles up with the Lala brothers and they licensed it to Charles. Check out this (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=2422708#post2422708) thread over on BFC.
ixpfah 01-02-2004, 07:57 PM Thanks, Zen.
ExamonLyf 01-11-2004, 12:22 PM Well.., I committed to zero Balisong purchases in 2004, but then bought (6) on January 2nd, so best to ask again next year Felix....lol 8o
FivePointOh 01-28-2004, 01:51 PM Man, it's been a while since I've been here. :)
New Balis for 2004....I'm waiting on a DDR Project X. After that, who knows. Oh ya, I won a bid on ebay for a Parker Gpysy with stag/bone inserts. Should be in the mail.

nybble 01-28-2004, 01:56 PM Nice score! That's pretty old school with the tiny horns and the fatty inserts. Very cool!
