TMarshman 08-04-2001, 10:03 PM Beautiful!!! CKDadmin 08-04-2001, 10:47 PM Hey ... is that a bolster I see on there? Man ... Dog, that damascus looks great! Alex viper5192 08-04-2001, 11:33 PM Actually it looks like a BLUED bolster ;-)!! Roger Gregory 08-05-2001, 03:57 AM Bob, your work just gets better and better. I really like the way you keep trying something new but still keep that slimline Doggett look to the knives. So talk us through this one, what are the specs and is this one really for Jerry? If so he's got a great piece on the way. Roger Mike Conner 08-05-2001, 06:49 AM Dog, are the bolsters fire blued? Great looking knife. Mike Dexter Ewing 08-05-2001, 05:44 PM Right on, Bob! :) That is a real beaut! We ALL like you now :D dogman 08-05-2001, 10:16 PM Thanks for the comments. I am going to have a hard time sending this knife away. Blade steel is 30-twist Damasteel, bolsters are hot blued Ed Caffrey Spiders and Snakes Damascus and some nice MOP. The bolsters and handle material are screwed on like a folder. This was so I could shape and sand the bolsters before they were cooked. The big challenge was fitting screw on handles on a tapered tang, especially since I initially intended to epoxy on a different handle material. That meant I had to redrill and tap everything after the tang had been tapered. JerryO13 08-06-2001, 10:32 AM I'm back from the weekend. Thanks Dog, Yes this ones mine, All Mine, you in the back stop drooling all over it. :) This is the knife I was talking about in my Anticipation thread in the collecting forum. Bob, your right about the pearl vs wood. The pearl is a knock out. This is just an all around sweet knife. viper5192 08-06-2001, 11:57 AM You are a lucky man Jerry! ansoknives 08-07-2001, 12:10 PM Bob...! you never seems to stop impressing me. That is a beauty. How did you heat the bolsters? | |
