If you're interested, go here to look at some exciting things that are happening for the 2004 Knifemakers' Guild Show, the Show That Started It All:

http://www.knifemakersguildforums.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

Then click on the "Public Discussions: General Knife Related Forum," or if you're a Giuild member go to the "Membrs Only Forum," for the the same stuff.

ALSO: Here is a post from the Knifemakers' Guild site from Vice President Mel Pardue. Please read this and take action if you're a tableholder and have not sent him pictures and/or short bio:

Fellow Guild Memebers:
Our web master is in the process of restructuring the appearence of the Tableholders list:
We are adding a picture below each tableholders name. Chuck set this up as three columns wide. With the name and hopefully a picture of the tableholders knife below his name.
I have been able to capture some pictures of members knives from the web in various places and from their web sites.
We need for each table holder to send a picture to me where, I can reduce it to thumbnail size and forward to our webmaster
where we can get this finished.

If you dont have a computer you can mail me the picture , I will scan it and forward to Chuck.
If you have a computer you can email me a picture. Please hold these emailed pictures to 640 by 480 pixel size if possible.
We can handle it from there.

Also, please take a look at the Guild web site: If you dont have a "One page web site" in place, I need the following information to complete this
for you:
I need at least two pictures of your knives (one of these can be used for the tableholders pic.) I need a picture of you. And, finally, I need a written paragraph about you, (The maker) and your contact info, Address ,Telephone number, Fax, Email address, and web site address if you have one.
This info. will help us make sure that your contact information is also correct on the Guild membership list.

If you prefer. you can U.S. Mail this info to me.
Guys!!! We need this info as soon as you can get it to us.
It is going to take some time to do this and it will give each member a lot of exposure on the Internet. There is no cost to you, the member for this, only whats involved in getting the information to me.

You can view a Template for the "One page site" by going to : www.knifemakersguild.com web site.
If you are uncertain about whether you already have a "One page web site", or not, just go to the Guild web site and click on "Members List," and find your name: If it is high- lighted in blue you have one in place.
If your name is not high-lighted in blue you need to send us the info. requested above to get it in place. You can click on your name and, if it's highlighted, you'll be directed to your "One page web site"
We have about 20 of these "One Page Sites"up and running at the present.

The Board feels that having these pictures and info. about you will be a great exposure for your knives and whats good for the Guild Member is good for the Guild.

Please take advantage of this, lets build our customer base, this is good exposure for you.

Thank You,

Mel Pardue

Not at night. The hot days are great in the gigantic pool. But yes. Not in the show room, however.

I'm sorry I will miss next year's show but I will be ready for 2005.

Now if I could only find a mentor...:D

I'll put out the word. I'm sure someone would enjoy working with a guy who lives on the outskirts fo Khandahar! Do you furnish the sidearm or would he ahve to bring his own?

When can this mentor visit your shop? Oh.....you'll be coming back to Florida? Whew....., I'm sure lots of great makers wil be in your area in 2005.

Maybe you can report one the weather in Fla. in July/Aug.?

I think my judgement will be skewed by the time I return. 120F in Kandahar, 140F in Qatar - I might be wearing a jacket in the freezing 95F of Florida summer. On the flip side, it has already been in the teens here, and it isn't even winter yet!

If you're a Guild Member, or if you'd like to be, and the Guild would surely like you to be, read Mel pardue's comment on the first post of this thread, please.
