View Full Version : Fast Quench??

After using peanut oil for seven years I decided that I needed to expand my horizons in oil I got me a five gallon bucket of the Fast Quench from K&G. Its incredibly thin compared to my old peanut it was 40 degrees yesterday and the peanut was an opaque mass of jelly and the Fast Quench was thin as could be. It still took ALOT of BTUs to preheat it but the viscosity is obviously quite thin even cold.

I'm thinking that this stuff is the ticket for producing nice, intricate (well..fairly) hamons when using clay on 1095 and the fat cloudy temperlines (like Kevin has talked about) in an edge or full quench.

Any knowledge, experience, advice, anecdotal material, etc. on this material would be greatly appreciated.:)

Happy Holidays and may God Bless the New Year.
