I am interested in the concept of making a balisong. Any of you have advice, tips or hints and such for me to get started? Keep in mind that I know next to nothing about balisongs.

Speaking as someone who also knew nothing at all about Balisongs, get one of the new Typhoon kits from Classic Knifekits. Designed by Darrel Ralph, working on the Typhoon has been a real eye-opener for me (as in,...there's a lot more to a good balisong than meets the eye ;) ).

I can't imagine an easier way to get to really understand what a Balisong is all about...and when you're finished you'll be the proud owner of one sweet knife!

And as a guy who's been studying them for over 20 years, I also say get a Typhoon to start with. Darrel did a great job in getting all aspects of the bali into a kit form that allows everyone to learn how a bali is put together, and how it works.
