Here's one of the blades I had the good fortune to part with too early at the NYC Show... The blade is made in a Viking style composite pattern although overall the knife is more of an artistic impression of the era...

One thing I've discovered about this construction is that with the high / low carbon Damascus in the back and the all high carbon edge I am in fact getting a softer spine without a differential heat-treatment or drawing back of the temper.

I had a couple duds that became experiments...

The wood is stabilized spalted oak and the cross-guard and pommel are damascus. The sheath is veg tanned with a sterling throat and it is adorned with an Australina boulder opal.

Steel for a steal at $800.00...

Thats one totally great looking knife, J. You could have said it was an authentic Viking design and know one would know the difference. You did harden it pointed to magnetic North? How are you getting along with the Koots? Ray
