View Full Version : Time to admit what kind of jackass you are!
ixpfah 10-19-2003, 11:42 AM This place has been ridiculously dead lately, so I challenge you to bring back some life:
In what situation have you used your balisong/done something with your balisong that you're the least proud of?
Like trying to impress some girls/boys by flipping, and ending up making a big ass of yourself and ending up in the E.R., or trying to learn a new move from balisongxtreme.com and ending up slipping the balisong out of your hand and smashing it into your computer monitor... Something like that.
So, come one. Share! :D
justice 10-19-2003, 11:04 PM well like i said in the other thredd i broke the tip of my typhoon and then decided to stab it in to some wood and see if i could bend it. lesson learned dont stab nickels with a bali and dont try to bend your bali. by the way i think it would have made it through the full 41 cent test if i had just stabed straight down. but then again thats all part of the test. but im not realy least proud of that i guess it would be trying to drill pocket clip holes and not only not succeding but i broke the drill bit off in one of the unfinnished holes. uhg i suck!
not much but its a start....justin
BaliXpert 10-22-2003, 12:14 AM long time no see forum... finally got another comp... lets see... least proud moment...
It was late at night in july... And this guy tried to rob me... so hes comming at me and i flip out my jaguar and smack him across the face with the handle as im opening it... next thing he knows theres a knife drawn on him and he runs off...
im least proud of that because i probably coulda taken him with my fists... but even more that the graceful jag had to touch such filth...
sufwrx 11-03-2003, 07:34 PM ok, let me start by saying that i am the store manager of a knife store, and get asked all the time by my employees and customers how to use a butterfly and what i can do with them. i always keep one by the register for just such an occasion. it is usually one that has been scratched, or bent somehow (you know...something i wont sell to anyone for any reason). one time i had one that had been able to last for quite a while compared to his brothers (these are the cheap truck stop versions), and i had been playing with it all day. one of my employees was engaged in trying to sell one of these to someone when he called me over to demonstrate for the customer. as always i was happy to oblige and stepped up flipping through my usual routine. while going through this i was talking to the guy and telling him how easy it was to learn to use and where to look for new tricks. i decide to try and impress him by showing him that i could toss it up and catch it in the open position, then continue with the rest of my tricks. i have done this litteraly with hundreds of different butterflies and, usually, nothing adverse happens. however, this time was different. i threw the knife up and held my hand in the right spot to catch it when i noticed it was flying a little differently than usual. being the stubborn person that i am i didnt pull back. when it came down i got a pretty deep cut on my palm and let it hit the ground. both my employee and the customer just started laughing and pointing while i was holding my hand and looking for anything to use for a bandage. when i looked down the butterfly was in two pieces. one of the handles had cracked under the pressure of the performance and lay next to the other handle which was still attached to the knife itself...which had some of my blood on it. i ended up staying at work, and not selling the butterfly. when i went home i was promptly told by several people to go to the ER and get stitches (which i did not go do). that was probably my worst experience with a butterfly.
I was 15 years old and knew a dealer who could have gotten me all the Pacific Cutlery balisongs I would have wanted and I never got one (but we were poor so I am somewhat forgiven).

relayer66 11-14-2003, 05:30 AM When I was 18 years old, I lived in Clovis, New Mexico. There was a gun shop on Main St that sold knives, including some Frost and Parker balisongs. This was around 1984. One day I asked the guy behind the counter to check out one of the balisongs. I flipped it open with a ricochet, and it cut deeply into the back of my index finger. I didn't realize there was such a thing as a Manilla latch back then! "This #### knife has the latch on the wrong handle!" Blood squirt squirt...
The guy had a good laugh at my expense, and got me a band-aid. About a week later I came back to buy one of the knives, and since there was a different guy there I wasn't too emabarassed. When I asked to check out the knife, he said "Yeah, but be careful. Some jackass was in here last week and cut himself with one of these!"

Was that something along the lines of "Here hold my beer and watch this?" ;)

ExamonLyf 01-11-2004, 12:06 PM Hmmmm.., well there are a few, but the one that bothers me most was backing over a PCC Custom with Ivory inserts in 1986. Of course I wasn't driving a smallish vehicle. A Ford duely with the bed loaded with tile for my brother's house. :(
And yes.., I ran over it with both rear and front tires...., and yes.., the warranty was voided....lol.
How did it get on the ground behind my truck? I don't remember... :(
blade1 01-11-2004, 05:25 PM how bad did it mess up the knife? i think that would have just almost brought me to tears. almost:D
