View Full Version : Project 43 Updated

Project 43 ( has been updated.

I have both handles semi-finished and sanded with 400 grit paper. I buffed the blade with a cotton wheel and white rouge but the grind lines are still there, so I will sand it down to get rid of the lines and rebuff. Both the blade and the handles will be sanded with 600 and 1500 grit paper and buffed.

I was going to do some filework to the blade but with the advice (and great tips) of a couple fine gents in the Fine Embellishment fourm, I will take their advice and practice, practice, practice till I get it down before touching the Project blade.

Thanks Blade, I did some sanding on the blade and have a couple new pix on the page. No more Benchmade Bali-Song logo on the blade.

I haven't updated the project page yet because I want to get some outdoor, natural light shots tomorrow. It was too dark tonight and flash just doesn't work very well on highly polished knives.

Since last time, I hand sanded the blade and handles with 220, 400, and 600 grit papers. Thanks to Sabo for providing me with some 'Q' polishing compound for a satin finish and following it with some white rouge to further polish the blade and handles to a mirror finish, I have finished Project 43 for now.

I can now dedicate some time to hone my fileworking skills on some weld steel I picked up at Sears.

This thing has a completly different feel now. It probably feels close to a 47 because it's a little blade heavy with the shortend handles and the missing latch.

Now this I like!

Beautifull work FivePointOh! You can tell just by looking at it that it was done with love. (and sandpaper).

Is this going to be for display only, or are you gonna use it?

Thanks Gentlemen!!! :)

Yes it will be used. If it does get scratched, I know what to do to fix it. :)

My PROJECT 43 ( web page has been updated today with a few more pix that I took outdoors. Scroll down to the bottom to see 'em!

That's it for now till I get some filework practice in.

Thanks again.

We're not really giving you "great compliments". We're all lying to make you feel better.
To the other guys that was all in on this conspiracy: Sorry to let the cat out of the bag, but I just like hurting people.
