To have a counter showing how many registered users there are? It would be good advertisement to say we have "X" members and are growing daily.

We tried that for a while on the other forums, but got together and decided it might be giving a negative image.

The problem was that we've always prided ourselves on the quality of the forums rather than recruiting vast numbers of members. We felt that with other forums showing 12 times or more membership, it might be misconstrued that we weren't as good.

It's odd to me that folks seem to feel they would be betraying the other forums if they signed up with us as well. Just from email correspondence I know that many of the folks who post frequently for example at BF, lurk on CKD on a regular basis.

I've had numerous orders from folks who only post at BF, yet they tell me they have been following pics of my work on CKD. I jokingly refer to them as "closet" members. :D They love to come in an partake of our info, tutorials, and pics, but don't seem to want anyone to know that they do.

I have a feeling that with the new forums, and the member supported advertising we are discussing, we may well finally bring some of these folks "out-of-the-closet".

Sorry for the rambling, I'm still on my first cup of coffee this morning.

Makes sense to me. I personally like to know how big we are. 1000 participating people at CKD is a lot bigger than 5000 people trashing each other like other forums.
