Although I've got better pics coming in the next week or two, I thought I'd get these posted. This is my latest kitknife...a GX6.

It's got giraffe bone scales with ebony spacers, Eggerling damascus bolsters-etched and heat colored, nickel/silver fileworked accents, and a pretty involved fileworked/carved and inlaid (ebony wood) backspine. Since completing this I've already come up with more new ideas for the side-of-the-handle filework and "carving" on the steel backspine, both somewhat unusual methods of embellishment (at least in my experience, I haven't seen much of either one)...I'm really excited about both and can't wait to see what more I can do with these two areas...

Hope you enjoy!
(I'm trying to post from my laptop at work...my first time to do so...hope it works)

Close-up of the butt showing the modified "S" on the bottom end. Shot from unusual perspective but I hope you get the idea:

Dennis,
Took the day off from the university. really needed the break...
Thanks for showing me the way. I now feel more strongly that it was a pity we didn't spemd some time together in New York at the ECCKS. I like your style. To me it is original, WILD and on the other hand beautifully controlled in matching hues design and shape. There seem to be some more original folder artist out there besides those I chose for the book...
Should I have shown the Dellana "set" in this section? can one post similar threads in two sections for different audiences?

All the best,
David (ddd)

David-

Thanks for the kind remarks. I apologize for the lousy pics...I grabbed these in a hurry prior to running off trying to get to the Virginia show in time. I better pics coming...

Not all members visit all forums...it depend on their interests and focus. So sometimes it makes sense to post in more than one forum.

However in your case I feel you are well covered in the display case...Pretty much everyone checks that out.

I posted these here for a couple of reasons. I already put these pics up in the Kit Knife forum which is S.O.P. for kitknife makers. Since they are not necessarily visited that often by all CKD members I wanted to post elsewhere also. But I do not wish to post in the Display Case until I have pics that will best show this off. Having said that, these pics are more than serviceable enough to understand what I did in the way of embellishment, which is why they're now here ;)

Dennis,

That is outstanding work! I like that you push the design envelope with each piece you do.

David,

Welcome aboard and yes you can post similar threads and photos here.
It's even better when we can get the artists themselves to participate in discussions and techniques about their chosen craft.
Inspiring others and promoting the various artforms is what this forum is all about.
As you can see, Dennis has all of that in spades!
