I was doing some chasing on a silver sheath tip this morning and made a bit of a mess of it so I had to clean up the edges and smooth a couple of lines, to make a long story short I had a couple of ongulette gravers in the drawer and they did the job not too badly. My question is.... what graver shape is easiest to work with?
Keep in mind I am NOT an engraver.

Hi George,
If you can handle an onglette graver you can pretty much handle anything!
The easiest graver for me is a square graver. I'll use an onglette occasionally when I need to make a flared cut. Some people use a flat for that cut but I prefer the onglette.
The difficulty with this specific graver is when you heel it to do a close tight curve.
That is, when you're holding the graver up high in the back trying to cut a small spiral. If this tool digs in...it really digs in!
Also...the tool you shape for the task at hand can often be the easiest to use.

I tell you it was not a pleasure to use and it sure did dig in until I figured it out.
