first off what hardness should i be looking for with 440Css


second can anyone give me info on o1 from annealing to tempering the search wont take o1 thx :D

Desirable hardness for 440C would be about 57 - 59 .

o1 like most steel will be anealed already from the suppliers.
the best way to ht for a new comer is to get it to non magnetic then oil quench then temper at 400 degrees for one hour two or three times.

DO YOU MEAN THE TEMPS? THATS THE RANGE FOR THAT TYPE OF STEEL.
