...It was truly, "the best of times"!
The attendance was record breaking with a lot of new faces in the crowd. Knives valued around $200. - $300. seemed to do better this year than the higher-dollar stuff.
It was an emotional time as well. Bob and Nancy Schrap were honored with an award and ovation from the gallery of exhibitors for their 20 year commitment to making this show one of the best in the country. Not many dry eyes after that one!
The Finn knifemakers were a real treat, thanks to Les Ristinens hospitality and patience with translating engraver-speak. (I tried to keep my questions and comments to the point, and not run my mouth off as usual!.... )
The awards were competitive. I was only able to cover a few of them. The talent was really amazing to say the least.
Hope you all enjoy the pictures and I also hope that some of you will join in the fun for the 21st. BKC show, March 25-27, 2004!

Cheers!....:)

Bob,

Kelly and I first attended this show in 1989 and became members and table holders the following year. I've seen this show grow and surpass other upper mid-west knife shows through the years. It is the number 1 knife show in the north central U.S. with a waiting list of 100.
It's also a reunion with old friends and a chance to meet new ones. I hardly get the chance to see everyone and look at the fine work on display, but I savor those that I do. My only complaint is that the weekend flys by too fast!

Tim, thanks for posting the pictures. My plan is to get my website updated this week and maybe post a couple more pictures of my scrim.

I agree that it was a fun show! Even though I didn't get much of a chance to walk around, I know there were so many beautiful knives - so many knives I would have loved to get my hands on to scrim! :D I'm already looking forward to next year!
