Hello everyone!

I just got back from a fun afternoon at the C&E Gunshow in Concord, NC. While I was there, I met guy that specializes in pewter pins - deer, elk, moose, dogs, etc.

Looking over his offerings I got the wild idea of setting these into the handle material of my fixed-blade knives. You know, sort of a bird and trout with an inlaid trout (or bird), a hunter with deer's head or a dog. That sort of thing.

I'm sure this has been done before, so are there any suggestions on how to afix these to the handle? Ways of countersinking them? Etc.

Any words of wisdom would be most appreciated!

Mark,

Inlays are generally pinned down in some fashion.
In the case of a finished piece, you could carefully scribe around the inlay, and lower the area within the scribed line on the knife handle. Leave about 1/2 of the inlay above the surface.
Set it using a high-strength (clear) epoxy.
That's how I would approach it.

Hope this helps!
