Hi,

What is a Samuel Bell knife? I saw one in American Bladesmith - actually, there were 2, in the "centerfold" section. I think they're extremely elegant and they look quite deadly. What are they? Some kind of dressed up Bowies similar to the Price SF stuff?

Thanks,

JD

In my opinion, it was the next evolution of the Mediterranean knife or dagger. It bridged the gap ,style wise, from the Med., dagger, to the Bowie.
While most Med., knives had no guards, Samuel Bells versions usually had a slim double guard.
I am a great admirer of these knives.
Hope this helps a little.
