View Full Version : Name change
Canwell Knives 02-15-2003, 01:42 PM Hi guys,
I need to change my name. I can't use Canwell Knives anymore. Can anyone tell me how I go about changing my name on this forum?
I have e-mailed CKD about it but they have not responded.
Thanks,
Bear
Don Cowles 02-15-2003, 04:19 PM just log out, and register with a new name.
KnifeWife 02-15-2003, 07:32 PM After you register under the new name, et me know and I'll remove the old one.
Jamey Saunders 02-15-2003, 10:25 PM I've been considering changing my user ID to my name (Jamey Saunders), but I don't want to lose my post count and history. Is there any way to do that? If not, I'll just keep my current ID.
Terry Primos 02-16-2003, 12:08 AM Nope, when you change your ID, the count for the new ID starts at zero.
We all went through this when we switched over from the previous forums at EzBoard. I had over 1500 posts on that one. And we had another forum before that one ( Dang, I've been around here a long time ).
But post count doesn't have anything to do with the value of the "poster" anyway.
Martyn 02-16-2003, 09:25 PM Isn't their a friendly admin who can log into the admin section and just overtype a new name on the existing account? There's a link in each members profile that'll take you straight there. ;)
There's a good reason for maintaining the existing account. I often click on the search button in my own posts when I'm looking for some thread or other that is of some renewed interest to me.
Though I do think that if your post count is under 50 or so, there would be little lost by re-registering and would save the admins a headache.
Jamey Saunders 02-16-2003, 10:01 PM Guess I'll just keep what I've got. Most people around here know me by my current ID anyway...
SharpByCoop 02-16-2003, 10:03 PM Alex can easily do this, but he is, I think, away at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this weekend. Sit tight.

Martyn 02-17-2003, 12:31 AM Hi Coop, I notice that Terry, KnifeWife and a couple others are "super moderators", they *may* be able to do it too. :)
Terry Primos 02-17-2003, 01:11 AM Nope. If we could, I'd already have done it.
KnifeWife 02-17-2003, 12:47 PM There are "some" things our great and powerful Wizard (Alex) :) doesn't let us do.
KNAdmin 02-17-2003, 01:54 PM What username would you prefer?
Alex
Jamey Saunders 02-17-2003, 02:01 PM I'd prefer to just use my name, Jamey Saunders. If this is going to be too much trouble, don't worry about it. If it's not too much trouble, what do I need to do to help it happen?
KNAdmin 02-17-2003, 10:17 PM Jamey,
I fixed your account. Don't forget to use your new username to log in.
Alex
Jamey Saunders 02-17-2003, 11:06 PM Thanks, Alex! I've been wondering about this for a couple of weeks, but didn't want to ask. I appreciate it.
