I saw a bench grinder that was turned into a belt sander they put a 10 inch wheel that had rubber around it and had a small wheel that was screwed to the back of the work bench. Does anyone know what this kind of wheel is called and were i might aquire one affordably. thanks

It sounds like the wheel screwed to the bench is the idler wheel and it is used for tracking. Go look at the Texas Knifemakers Supply web site, I think they have an idler wheel on a mounting base. This sounds like what you are describing.

The contact wheel can be bought from many sources and in many sizes. Go to beaumont metal works and look at the selection there.
